The momentum continues around our Retail Shop-Floor Inventory Tracking Solution.

Omnitrol Networks has been selected by BT, one of the world’s leading providers of communications solutions and services, for the deployment of RFID-based retail inventory solutions.

BT, behind Europe’s largest RFID retail deployment, will collaborate with Omnitrol Networks, to deliver proven and innovative merchandise tracking and visibility solutions for retailers around the world.
The solutions will track actual inventory movements and item-level velocity by stock keeping unit (SKU). They will deliver proactive real-time replenishment alerts and visibility for retail store managers. This will enable near-perfect tracking accuracy and forecasted inventory levels, which will help retailers dramatically increase employee productivity.

What makes this announcement significant is that other fully integrated solution providers don’t have the reach and RFID pedigree to support the global deployment of their solutions. Global retailers have specific requirements that require significant development/customization for the other solutions. Because of the proven OMNITROL platform, the new solution only requires configuration changes and minimum customization to meet new requirements. By combining this level of versatility and performance with BT’s global reach and IT expertise, the companies are now poised to deliver a truly global, RFID-based retail solution.

NTT Multimedia Deploys Automated Mobile Asset Tracking from Omnitrol Networks

A little bit of background about this division:
NTT Multimedia Communications Laboratories, Inc (NTT MCL) was founded as a division of NTT America in 1996, and incorporated in 1998 by Nippon Telegraph and Telephone (NTT). NTT is a leading global provider of telecommunications services to pursue the commercialization of advanced technologies that would leverage NTT’s expertise in multimedia communications. Since then, NTT MCL has evolved into being the only overseas advanced research and development arm of NTT Communications.

After evaluating available solutions, NTT MCL selected the OMNITROL Asset Tracking solution utilizing RFID sensor technologies from Impinj and Omni-ID. The appliance-based OMNITROL Asset Tracking solution used Impinj Speedway Revolution RFID readers with circularly polarized antennas deployed at the facility entrance/exits. The RFID readers are managed directly by the OMNITROL appliance running the OMNITROL Asset Visibility Edgelet, which implements sophisticated status, presence, identification, and directionality algorithms to determine what asset is moving where, with a very high degree of reliability.

Hobart Machined Products Deploys Omnitrol Real-Time Supplier Collaboration Solution

Hobart Machined Products is a manufacturer of precision parts for the aerospace, medical, automotive, and electronic industries. Over the past 32 years, Hobart has earned a global reputation for consistent high-performance ratings and customer service excellence in complex mechanical and airframe assembly design, engineering, and precision machining.

Aerospace and other manufacturing industries have accelerated outsourcing of manufacturing operations to increase efficiencies and reduce costs. However, moving some of the operations outside of the physical four walls of the factory has created “dark areas” in the manufacturing visibility process. As a supplier to Boeing, one of the world’s largest manufacturers, Hobart was looking for ways to address this problem and become a better supplier. It wanted to provide real-time production visibility to its customers to alleviate any fears of missing mission-critical deadlines.

The Omnitrol solution has simplified the process of entering and tracking customer orders through a web portal that can be securely accessed anytime from anywhere. By choosing an integrated solution from a single vendor, Hobart benefits from a seamlessly integrated view, from customer orders through to their inventory system, to generate an extremely accurate production forecast with customer feedback capability. Based on what is available or expected to arrive in the warehouse, the system gives Hobart's employees a detailed view of what they will be able to kit, assemble, and produce now and in the future.

Omnitrol Networks releases Retail Shop-Floor Inventory Tracking Solution for Apparel

Another great example of collaboration, we are now ready to release this solution to our partners and channels. Large retail companies can offer wide selections of clothing and have advantages in purchasing, distribution, and marketing while smaller stores can compete by offering unique merchandise, targeting a specific demographic, providing superior customer service, or serving a local market. All retail stores across the industry share a similar and very labor-intensive model when it comes to inventory tracking and inventory replenishment. New competition in recent years has come from discounters and from catalog and Internet retailers. Cost reduction is a key goal for apparel retailers.

Until now, solutions were "tailored" solutions. Thanks to our partner, we have been able to bring up an easy-to-install solution that can provide immediate visibility on apparel item movement and address the out-of-stock problem. Out of stock situations cost the industry nearly $90 billion every year.

Custom Apparel Manufacturer Goes Live With Omnitrol Networks Real-Time Manufacturing Visibility Solution

Another customer example of the benefits of using intelligence from the network to drive profitability. I'm really fascinated by the innovation that some of our customers bring to the table when it comes to deploying technology for their own specific requirements.

The learning curve for employees at Bay Creek Manufacturing was minimal and they were able to start using the new system very quickly. Operational managers were immediately able to start viewing the real-time order location and status using web-based interfaces. They were able to quickly identify bottlenecks by noting any manufacturing workstations with longer-than-expected production cycles. By analyzing the order histories, Bay Creek could start mapping out buying patterns which enabled them to plan for the future by anticipating client needs thereby improving the client/supplier relationship.

Omnitrol Networks bolsters RFID edge application software, releases industry’s smallest middleware appliance solution

We are in GA! The new release of EASE comes with a new development environment (SDK) that allows our partners to quickly develop new SDL-based Edgelets with an intuitive user interface. The new release also comes with an upgraded emulator to complete the picture.

Time to development is an important part of our value proposition but ease of deployment is also very critical; this is why this new software release comes with a new small foot print appliance. The new OMNITROL Nano is both a plug-and-play solution, and practically plug-and-forget. A manufacturing company can have a complete OMNITROL-based track and trace solution up and running in less than 60 minutes, and need only maintain it when they add more sensors.
